Sworn Translation e Apostille of The Hague.

Clients often ask me whether the Apostille is placed on the translation or on the original document.

For a document destined for abroad, the Apostille is applied first to the original document and then to the sworn translation. The Apostille is placed on the document to authenticate the signature of the Official who issued it, while on the sworn translation it recognizes the signature and quality of the Chancellor of the Court before whom the authorized translator swears to have carried out the translation well and faithfully.

While for documents coming from abroad it is necessary for the Apostille to be affixed only to the original document and once here the translation is sworn by the Court.
